Happy Crewsmas week everyone! As I'm sure all of you heard by now,
Crewsmas is going on as scheduled as a new
CBA was signed Saturday between MLS and the Players Union. Enough
of that here, we've got Crewsmas to discuss!
There are a lot of big events this week, I've done my best to summarize
them below.

Toluca Vs Crew - St. Patrick's Day Party |

(Original Photo Credit to Studio79)
Big match Wednesday against Toluca, arguably the biggest in Crew history
if we win. The Crew travel down to Mexico to take on a very dangerous
Toluca at altitude. It will no doubt be a tough match for the Crew, but
as the win at Saprissa showed us in the group stage nothing is
impossible.
The match kicks off at 8pm on Fox Soccer Channel. As many of you know
March 17th also happens to be a bit of a holiday for the drinking
class. This is a holiday that would have Claddagh (and most other bars
in the city) packed shoulder to shoulder most of the day Crew game or
not. That being the case please read the following from Craig
McConnville, manager of Claddagh:
Dear Columbus Crew Fans and valued guests,
As the Official viewing location of your Columbus Crew, I wanted to
take a moment to thank you for your patronage and support. The energy
you bring to our pub cannot be duplicated anywhere else and we owe that
to you, the fans. We look forward to each away match, not only because
we get to see our team play, but we get to see the fans we have become
friends with and enjoy serving. We look forward to another wonderful
Crew season.
As I am sure you know, The Crew will face Toluca this Wednesday, March
17th in the away leg of the Champions League Quarterfinals. As many of
you probably know, this is also St. Patrick’s Day. Our busiest day of
the year, hands down. That being said, it’s going to be crowded. Very
crowded. However, the match will be on all of our televisions but there
will be no sound as we will have bands playing for the holiday. As
always, we are committed to providing the best possible viewing
experience possible. It seems like those in charge of CONCACAF may not
be Irish! So, we will be showing the match, and it will be a very
festive and busy night. If you feel like you may not be comfortable in
this atmosphere, just this once I wish to advise you to view the match
elsewhere. We would love to have you, but I never want anyone to be
uncomfortable. As always, we encourage everyone to show up early,
especially this day.
My staff and I look forward to seeing you Wednesday, or soon after
that. Here’s to another successful season and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to
you all!
Sincerely,
Craig McConville
General Manager
Claddagh Irish Pub, Brewery District
There will be a number of us still planning to be at Claddagh for the
match and we'll have audio on in the back room although there is no
promise you'll be able to hear this. I also know I wouldn't want to be
sitting at home on my couch when the Crew have the chance to make
history, just something to keep in mind when planning your evening.

CSU
Organization - John
- Executive
Board
- The executive board will help provide guidance to
the CSU
leadership. This is part of the effort to make Crew Union a stronger
organization that will continue to be successful for years to come. The
initial members of the executive board have all been involved in CSU and it's
previous incarnations for several years, but for various reasons have
not been able to participate as actively in the organization in recent
years. This is a way for us to keep these valuable members involved in
the organization.

- Opportunities
for Members
- We are looking for some members that would like
to become more involved with the group. We have a few things we're
looking for, but these are ideas and we're open to suggestions if you
have something you're passionate about and want to take on. Most of
these are things we haven't had time to do or been able to give them the
focus we'd like. Also, we're not looking for a major time commitment
on any of these (unless you want to and that's fine too).
